About

Anna Horst is a filmmaker and performing artist who uses many genres to bring stories to life. Growing up, any space could become her stage but first her stories were always brought to life behind her closed bedroom door. She played many roles including Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and Maria in Twelfth Night, both directed by actors from the Guthrie Theater, before turning her focus to studying dance. She went on to study acting, dance, and voice in New York University’s BFA program at the Lee Strasberg Institute. Since performing her first solo work in 2017 she has explored and experimented with many forms of expression. Taking old stories with deep roots, she sifts, questions, investigates, and gives them new life, making them relevant to today. Her works are diverse but all focus on women from different walks of life and different times who share the common themes of learning, growing, and being or becoming healthy and strong. Using her formal training as well as knowledge of historical costuming and living fine tuned by her years working at Minnesota’s largest historic site Historic Fort Snelling, she also uses her overall love of attention to detail to create vibrant works that invite and welcome her audience into the world she has created.
